Digital X-Rays

Enhance your preventive care with advanced digital imaging for faster, safer, and more precise dental diagnoses.

State-of-the-Art Imaging for Proactive Oral Health

At Whitestone Dental, we believe that the best way to treat dental issues is to catch them before they become painful or costly. Dr. Timothy Matthews utilizes advanced digital X-ray technology to see beyond what the naked eye can detect during a routine exam. Unlike traditional film, digital radiography uses electronic sensors to capture high-resolution images of your teeth, roots, and jawbone instantly. This allows our team to identify hidden cavities, bone loss, and impacted teeth with incredible accuracy, ensuring your treatment plan is based on the most detailed information available.

Digital X-Rays

Significantly Reduced Radiation

Digital X-rays use up to 90% less radiation than traditional film methods, making them a much safer option for patients of all ages.

Instant High-Resolution Results

Images are available on our monitors immediately after they are taken, allowing for a more efficient appointment and real-time discussion of your health.

Enhanced Diagnostic Precision

Digital images can be magnified and adjusted for contrast, enabling Dr. Matthews to detect tiny fractures or early-stage decay that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Environmentally Friendly

Because we use digital sensors, there is no need for toxic developing chemicals or lead film packets, making this a greener choice for the Meridian community.

Questions

Find answers to common concerns about whitening treatments and what to expect.

Are digital X-rays safe?

Yes. Digital X-rays are exceptionally safe. They produce significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays and even less than the background radiation you encounter in daily life.

How often do I need to have X-rays taken?

The frequency depends on your individual oral health, age, and risk of disease. Most healthy adults require a set of "bitewing" X-rays every 6 to 12 months.

Do digital X-rays hurt?

Not at all. The process involves placing a small, rounded sensor in your mouth for a few seconds. It is a quick and non-invasive part of your routine dental check-up.

Why do I need X-rays if I’m not in any pain?

Many dental issues, such as infections at the root or decay between teeth, don't cause pain until they are advanced. X-rays allow us to treat these problems while they are still minor.

Can I get digital X-rays if I am pregnant?

While the radiation dose is extremely low, we generally take extra precautions or postpone elective X-rays during pregnancy. Always inform Dr. Matthews if you are or might be pregnant.
