Redefining Your Dental Experience Through Comfort and Relaxation

Dental anxiety affects millions of people, often preventing them from receiving the essential care they need. At Stonehaven Dental, Dr. Timothy Matthews is dedicated to breaking that cycle by offering a variety of sedation dentistry options in Meridian, Idaho. Whether you prefer the gentle, fast-acting effects of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or the deeper relaxation of oral conscious sedation, our team ensures your procedure is a calm and positive experience. By tailoring sedation to your specific needs, we can perform treatments more efficiently, often completing multiple procedures in a single visit, while you remain in a completely relaxed state.

Sedation Dentistry

A Painless, Anxiety-Free Visit

Combining local anesthetics with sedation ensures you undergo your procedure without physical discomfort or the mental stress of dental fear.

Smoother and Faster Procedures

Sedation eliminates involuntary movements and tension, allowing the dentist to work more efficiently and often finish complex work in fewer appointments.

Fosters Positive Dental Memories

A comfortable experience helps reshape your outlook on dental care, reducing fear over time and building your confidence for future visits.

Accommodates Special Needs

Sedation is an excellent solution for patients with a strong gag reflex, difficulty sitting for long periods, or special needs such as ADHD.

Questions

Find answers to common concerns about whitening treatments and what to expect.

What is nitrous oxide (laughing gas)?

Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative inhaled through a mask. It provides a "floaty" feeling, kicks in within minutes, and wears off quickly enough for you to drive yourself home.

How does oral conscious sedation work?

You take a prescribed anti-anxiety pill about 60 minutes before your appointment. You will be awake but deeply relaxed, and you likely won't remember much of the procedure.

Will I need a driver for my appointment?

If you choose oral conscious sedation, you must have a responsible adult drive you to and from the office due to lingering effects. For nitrous oxide, a driver is usually not required.

Who is a good candidate for sedation?

Ideal candidates include those with dental phobia, a strong gag reflex, difficulty getting numb with local anesthesia, or those undergoing lengthy, complex dental work.

Is sedation dentistry safe for children?

Yes, we offer sedation options tailored to various stages of life. Dr. Matthews will review your or your child's medical history to ensure the safest choice is selected.
